In 2005, new legislation required NSW businesses that produce high-priority plant products to implement hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) based food safety programs. 5 product groups were identified as high priority.
This study collected benchmark data to assess industry preparedness for the legislation. The poster below summarises the study.
Sprouts follow-up
In 2008, a follow up survey was conducted to determine if the microbiological quality of sprouts improved after producers implemented mandatory HACCP food safety programs.
This summary report on findings from the survey was provided to the industry.
