Overview

The Food Authority has engaged with crowds at the Sydney Royal Easter Show for more than 2 decades. We love sharing food safety advice with the thousands of visitors who attend the show each year.

Browse through the slideshow to see some of the Food Authority’s different stands over the years.

Join us at the 2025 Sydney Royal Easter Show

The Food Authority is excited to be part of the show action once again from Friday 11 April to Tuesday 22 April 2025.

This year our highly popular hand washing stand returns. Using Glitterbug Potion and UV lights, children and adults can test how well they wash their hands before handling food.

Expert staff are on hand to guide visitors through the steps of effective hand washing, answer questions and share valuable food safety tips with aspiring hygiene heroes. And we'll hand out our new fun children's book - Sam and Lee's Micro Mission! (PDF, 7MB)

Find us in the Ag Discovery Pavilion on Orana Parade - next door to the cattle lawns, along the Animal Walk footprint trail.

Take our quiz: How food safety aware are you?

At the 2025 Sydney Royal Easter Show we're launching a new food safety quiz to better understand food safety awareness in the community.

Answers will help inform the future direction of the Food Authority’s education activities.

Are you food safety savvy? Do our quick quiz and find out!

You can also read the quiz answers to get more information and learn why:

Community food allergy awareness survey 2024

Showgoers in 2024 took part in our allergy awareness survey, which sought the community’s knowledge of and experiences with food allergies.

Australia has one of the highest food allergy rates in the world, with one in 10 infants, one in 20 teens and about one in 50 adults affected.

See the results on the Food allergy awareness survey 2024 page.

Lunchbox survey 2023

We asked children about their lunchboxes in our 2023 Easter Show survey to find out what foods they were taking, and whether they were keeping them cold.

The majority of children indicated great food safety behaviours by keeping their lunch in the shade or inside and using insulated lunch bags and ice bricks.

Full results are on our Lunch boxes page.
